The First is the desire to find a new way to use social media to benefit the local Make A Wish organization and second is to incorporate and support Supercar Sensation. You see, since the first time I drove their Ferrari F360, Lamborghini Gallardo, Nissan GTR, Porsche 911, Merceds C63 AMG, Aston Martin Vantage convertible, and a BMW M3 all on the same day I have had a perma-grin on my face.

Recently I spoke with David Salama, owner of Supercar Sensation, Jenn Snyder of Charlotte Hood Hargett Breakfast Club, and Tricia Griffin of Make A Wish foundation, I had to combine them and figure a way to attract new members to the Facebook page of Supercar Sensation and utilize the growth to benefit charity. Thus the creation of the “friendraiser”.

Supercar Sensation is providing a facebook appreciation day for members, the more members we gain, the more donations we provide to Make A Wish. Every 500 new friends = another Wish donated.

So please join the group, attend the event and help a young child to live a dream.

Somedays my visionary side just can’t be shut down.

Imagine if you will… city intersection street lights being self powered. No not solar powered. ok I admit I am not educated on the exact technical terms so just grasp the idea not the specifics.

Tire manufacturers will provide tires embedded with micromagnets that when traveling over an opposing polarity receiver buried in an intersection, will create energy much like the Hoover dam does with water, thus energy would be stored in a unit and passed up to the streets lights.
Take this concept to the highway and let the traffic save millions of dollars for the state or local municipalities.

Would it cost millions to implement, yes but only a drop in the bucket compared to the future progression of technology.

Far fetched? Maybe.. Maybe not!

In a throw away society, how can you accurately measure the success of an employee? Can they out sell everyone in the office? Do they always have the right answers, meet quotas. Or do they encourage others, bring out the best in others, and have a plan of succession?

I would venture to say with the unemployed talent available and the tendency for the employers to cut to the bottom line, I think the general small business owner is missing out on the future of great employees by overlooking the potential leadership value by placing more emphasis on todays budget.

Follow me with this analogy.
Some of the best coaches in the world of professional sports were not the best player on their team at any point in their upward climb. Sometimes, always being second best leads to a lifetime of internal drive to help or motivate others to bring out their best. If one coach or team leader can have this kind of impact on the next generation but were never given the chance because of a budget deficit. Imagine for a moment that Phil Jackson was told by his first general manger or owner told him “we just can’t afford to pay you right now”

Back to my story!

Right or wrong, these decisions have left some incredibly talented and dedicated employees waiting on the sidelines or scurrying to find another job!
If you are an employer, think about your 4,5 or 10,000 dollar pay cuts and take into consideration the impact of your decision on the family and next generation of employees.

This may be only my personal feelings but the financial decisions of a previous employer has impacted the health, welfare and family dynamics in a way that can never be repaired with any job or any amount of money. Imagine for minute, the impact on the world of sports and business advertising if Phil Jackson never got the chance to coach and our world we know now was void of the then undeveloped productivity and succes of those players like Michael Jordan.

You don’t have to be the BEST to bring out the BEST in others!

It is utterly amazing to me that our local IRS office is so dysfunctional! I need a copy of previous tax returns, should be simple right? Not today!
First, as I enter the office I am approached by a security gaurd and scanned for weapons or electronics, then when I finally get through the line, the receptionist informs me that they are short handed and one of the two workers is out for an hour lunch!!! Are you kidding me, an hour lunch when taxpayers are sitting for hours waiting. She proceeds to I form me that I can expect to wait 3-4 hours. Ugghhh!!! She may as well have cemented my shoes and thrown me in the river.
Now here I am waiting for three hours or more to get papers printed from their computer system.
Through repeated phone calls, which I have to leave the office to answer and then be subject to security screening again before reentering.

Man…. Is it really worth it?

If you know me at all, you have heard me over the past 2-3 years dreaming and talking about the integration of two of the most powerful media formats combining to become one that consumers will love to watch.

Imagine this! You are sitting at home watching you favorite weekly tv series (Fringe, CSI,Monday Night Football). No commercial breaks, and no advertising intertuptions. Since the creation of the DVR who ever watches live TV any more anyways, just zip passed the commercials. Ok back to my point! Imagine that your television andinternet are integrated into one household unit, ( notice the date on this article). Stay with me here! While watching your show you can point your remote/wireless mouse at anything, I mean anything on the screen and click your button.

Introducing the evolution of digital mass media product placement, combined behavioral and geographical targeting of Google and pay per click concepts, the input of massive data from the producers, and the ultimate viewer control which allows for a smaller screen to open up your internet browser and automatically links you to google ranked results for the shoes, the car, the clothes, the nearest place to buy your favorite team jersey ( that would be Steelers by the way) without ever leaving you recliner chair and never forwarding through ads.

Thus the creation of Digital Media Marketing where the advertisers pay according to how many clicks they get during a show or a movie DVD. Advertisers deal directly with product placement media buyers locally or nationally and your television/internet unit provides a GPS location to assist with local search results and tracks your IP address and search history much like Google does now. The advertisers are charged based upon the successful placement and click through of the end viewer. No more annoying commercials, no more having to DVR the game and it running over the TV scheduled time and you miss the last minute winning drive.

AAHH, at last entertainment bliss!

In theory the unit will over time build a database of likes and dislikes (click throughs) based upon the shows that you watch and begin to make suggestions to other similar shows whether live or archived online with sites like Hulu.com or Fancast.

With advancements like Immersive Media technology and Blu-Ray Discs massive data compilations, Internet ready televisions, I can’t see more than 2-3 years from now this will be a reality.

Post your thoughts! Reality or fantasy.

A Proofpoint survey offered by AOL’s senior marketing manager Simone Heseltine would indicate that reputation management is of serious concern. The survey reports that “more than 1 in 3 companies surveyed reported that their business had been impacted by the exposure of sensitive or embarrassing information in the past 12 months.” That doesn’t even count all the businesses that don’t know how to monitor their reputation online yet, or don’t even pay serious attention to the space. Paul Elliot, Partner in Search & Media / Analytics & Optimization for Rosetta, says that for companiess to not even be paying attention to the online space is a huge mistake they may end up paying for later, and dearly. “In online environments, the opportunity for damage to an organization, its people, brand, products or services – is eternal. Monitoring and protecting an organization’s good name through digital strategy and execution is essential in the 24/7 online world.” Why search, video, and social media can have the biggest impact with your reputation ANYWHERE Search engine results pages (SERPs) are probably the single greatest source for featuring potentially infringing or damaging video content, especially when you take into account that they index video (and content and links around the video) from practically all areas of the Web. We’re not just talking popular video sharing websites like YouTube; you can include social networks, blogs, and even image sites that have video capabilities. (For example, an account on the popular image sharing site Flickr can show 90-second video clips and are index-able and optimizable for the SERPs.) Video in SERPs can have significantly more weight because 1) They take up more space on a SERP with their thumbnails, and 2) They can appear in bunches. Many SERPs today can include multiple video listings for a single keyword prominently displayed near or at the top of key searches.

He began to tell me that he gets mad sometimes and just wants to express himself like the people do in the movies or video games.

Instantly I recalled a story I was once told and felt this was the right place and time to share it. I think it is appropriate to share with others who may encounter life’s little lessons.

Somewhere around the fifteenth century when the knights and castles and moats were popular. It was common place for a married man and women to ask permission from the king to procreate. ( have sex) Of course he was disgusted but continued to listen. The F-bomb as he referred to it was nothing more thtn an acronym. He is in the AIG classes and understand the terms simile, metaphor, hyperbole, acronym, etc…So I explained hence the term Fornication Upon Command of the King, or Fornication Under the Consent of the King, and the mystical aura and fascination around the desire to use the F-bomb was successfully diffused!

Now, I know that this was a powerful weapon to provide to my 11 year old son, if not used correctly he would be spreading it through the neighborhood faster than his little feet can peddle his bike, but let’s face it.. I would rather him be spreading the truth based on research and education than cursing out of ignorance!

Knowledge is power and when used properly it can diffuse the worst intentions of the uneducated.

Leaving a job reminds you of the nitty-gritty details involved in maintaining an online presence. If you lost your job this very minute — along with your work PC — would you still have full control of your online tools?

I’ve learned some valuable lessons about managing my online identity in one week as a free agent. To extend Chris Brogan’s “passports and outposts” analogy, I’ve learned to keep my passports in a safe deposit box. Here’s what I mean:

Don’t Use Your Work Email Address
Changing the address linked to your profiles on dozens of platforms is a pain. Avoid the hassle: Set up a Google account and use that address for all platforms. If you’re forced to leave a job on short notice, your online identity goes with you. And speaking of Google…

Get Your Google House in Order
Google owns your life online: Analytics for your blog, Groups for collaboration, Calendar to stay organized, Reader for RSS feeds. Make sure your Google tools are synched to work together. It’s akin to a car tune-up: Engine, steering, brakes, etc. each need individual attention, but they need to work together for your car to perform at its peak.

Store Your Passwords Somewhere
Internet security buffs recommend a different password for each service you use. Riiiiiiight. Most of us use the same password everywhere. Still, some sites require quirky passwords. Do you have them all memorized? I doubt it. And the “Recover my password” link won’t help if the password recovery email goes to a work address you can no longer access.

Go Mobile
Once you’re on your own, you’ll realize you took accessibility for granted sitting at a desk all day. Equip your mobile devices (cell phone, laptop, etc.) with the apps you need (Twitterberry, anyone?) to stay connected whether you’re at Starbucks, on the road, or lunching in the park.

Leave No Network Behind
Brand consistency matters, even for your personal brand. Do you portray yourself the same on LinkedIn as on Facebook? What about your Ning communities? If you’re rebranding yourself after a job change, check everywhere you have a profile. Multiple identities may confuse those who search for you.

Synch Your Networks
If we converse on Twitter, I want to connect on LinkedIn, Facebook, etc….anywhere I spend time online. My logic: If we need to reach each other, we shouldn’t have to play online phone tag. Hopping from one site to another because your networks aren’t redundant (in a good way) wastes time.

Give Them Closure
The larger your network, and the more channels you use, the easier it is to lose track of your conversations. Be diligent. Focus. If someone sends you a lead, be sure to thank them. Send a personal follow-up if their leads yield results. Remember, it’s about lasting relationships, not “use ‘em and leave ‘em.”
